The Studies on Hysteria

nbr 01

For this season Dr Denim have studied hysteria - a mental disorder characterised by emotional outbursts, susceptibility to autosuggestion and often, symptoms such as paralysis that mimic the effects of physical disorders. Over the last 50 years there has not been much talk of hysteria. The once most common disease went forgotten. The word disappeared but hysteria never vanished. It splintered into many different diagnoses. This study shows that a substantial proportion of patients presenting with hysterical symptoms suffer from some other underlying psychiatric or physical disorder. Those who once could have been labelled hysterical are now being diagnosed with other disorders. Our studies confirm that men and women all over the world still suffer from hysteria.

Let us now guide you through Dr Denim’s dissertation on hysteria.

Diabolus in Musica

nbr 02

Music and sin are two things that are hard to keep apart. It all goes back to the Middle Ages when the church decided to forbid the use of a certain music combination, the Devil’s interval. It became a phenomenon suppressed by the Church and people began talking about Diabolus in musica – the devil in music. Music that did not adhere to the rules for sacred music was considered impure. It was believed to be an evil interval that could adversely affect your character when used in music.

For this season Dr Denim has been inspired by music that urges to sin. The church blamed everything on the devil, Dr Denim blames the music.
